there is a sun on my leg...

I haven't been on here lately because I've been absorbed with concern for my poor leg and the sun-like spider bite on it. I am going on day five, and the leg hasn't fallen off yet, which I hear is a good sign, so I'm starting to relax now. The following is an account of the events, which though tame, are not for the weak of heart. (nor is the picture I took of my leg two days ago, which I decided to not post here...I put my favorite little Spiderman up instead!)
The bug got me gardening, while holding a baby with one hand and a hose in the other. I felt a sting, but I just brushed at is with my other foot and kept going. (did you guys see my blog on the broken toe? I never pay attention to these things...) That night, Nathan pointed it out--the silver-dollar sized, red raised bite mark on my leg. The next day it got bigger, and the next the middle turned dark yellow and the outside had blood-red spindly "rays" shooting out from it. This alarmed me. My Mother-in-law had some topical antibiotic on hand, so I started using that.
Today the "sun" is all red. Is this a good sign? Is it healing? I have no idea. I should have seen a Dr. in the first, or even in the second place. Sigh.

That sucks... I'm like you though... and I never go to the Dr. I think it's good that it is red instead of yellow... look it up on the net.

I've been looking it up, and all I can seem to find are pictures of Brown Recluse spider bites that make me feel sick to my stomach. Then I read that a symptom of Brown Recluse bites is nausea, and I panic, and then calm down and remember that I didn't feel sick until I started looking it up. Horrible cycle.

ok on the second thought don't look it up... I know how that can be! My husband got bit by a brown recluse spider while we were dating... it was really gross, it like rotted out the skin (sorry) but it did go away. I'm thinking that it might just be an allergic reaction to something that stung (?) you. Have you taken any benadryl?

Freaky! Here's hoping your leg doesn't fall off.

I would probably go to a doctor if you haven't already! Glad your leg hasn't fallen off!

Yes, I took benadryl and was sleepwalking for two days afterwards. That stuff knocks me out!!! I'm glad your husband survived the brown recluse bite! Yuck!

Sherry & Kristin~
Thank you!!! :)

An update on the bite~
My leg is intact and the "sun" is loosing it's flare and fading somewhat--I'm pretty sure I'm going to be okay! Praise God! :) You never know how much your leg means to you until some nasty bug sinks it's fangs into it. Anywho, thank you all for your support! :)
